LucasRuinedChildhood 721d ago (Edited 721d ago already explained that. Just because you say it a 1000 times, doesn't make it true. "completely ignoring to mention the same issues in all the other games that they subsequently reviewed that also featured a white male protagonist" Yeah, because Deacon being white was never the issue with Days Gone. In the IGN preview that people always reference, if you actually read it, he praised Deacon and said he was very invested in the story (the opposite of what you're saying). "never mind the fact that they get to play the game for free anyway." You'd complain in most cases if they didn't take the price into account and call them elitist.Īlso, what reviews actually complained about Deacon being a white male? You're not actually able to cite any so you're just lying to yourself. You said it yourself, the main issue in the reviews will likely be the value for the price (€80) which has nothing to do with the rest of your comment. Horizon 2 and R&C: Rift Apart will not have their embargos 1 day before release. Nothing has changed since Days Gone, so what you're saying isn't true. Jeff Ross (director of Days Gone) even said that the mock reviews were quite accurate for DG on a podcast with David Jaffe. Sony's review embargos always correlate with their confidence in a game - they commission mock reviews so they already roughly know the score. You're getting offended about something that isn't happening. LucasRuinedChildhood 721d ago (Edited 721d ago ) Objectivity used to be one of the core values of jounalism, but if Jason Schrier is to be believed, game journalists cannot be objective and it only gets in the way of good clickbait. No doubt this time around there will be alot of reviewers who will weigh in on the price point of the game, as if it's the first game this gen to be £70 - never mind the fact that they get to play the game for free anyway. It's been going on for a long time, but I still remember the whole issue with Days Gone and just how many game jounalists took issue with the fact that the main protagonist was a white male - as if that had anything to do with the quality of the game and completely ignoring to mention the same issues in all the other games that they subsequently reviewed that also featured a white male protagonist etc. Game journalist have a habit of virtue signalling and exacerbating extenuous issues in their game reviews. It doesn't surprise me that publishers like Sony release review embargoes closer and closer to release.
